FRUIT OF OUR DEEDS

FRUIT OF OUR DEEDS:This is one of the most intricate painting I ever made its 4 feet by 3 feet in size, on canvas. The basic coat on the canvas in Oil paint and on top of that is acrylic paint. All the lines and the shadings we see in this painting are not made by colours, but by scratching the overlaying layer of acrylic paint with needles and blades ( So the colours or the white and yellow lines which are showing are of the basic coat of paint in Oil ). It took 9 months to make and was very hard work indeed, I had to tie my hand with a string by a nail in the wall behind me and then hold a needle or blade and do the scratching accurately.

As in all abstract paintings the viewer usually takes out their own meaning of the painting by looking at it. However here I would like to give my explanation of this painting to help the viewer look at it in a different perspective. In the center of the painting we see a human head with its eyes blindfolded. The blindfold signifies how in this materialistic world humans have got so engrossed that they have forgotten about the true meaning of life and how it should be led, as taught by all religions which is signified by the book in front of the head. Between the head and the holy book is a wall which signifies the materialistic world which keeps humans away from righteousness and good. Also in front of the head is an hour glass which signifies the time of ones life which is passing by and behind the head we see a sort of a scroll on which is being written an account of the good deeds and the bad deeds of the individual and when the time of life is over, according to the account of ones deed the person would either find heaven or go through the gates of hell which one can see closed now behind the head with the devil standing next to it in the shape of a butterfly.

Would love to hear comments on this painting so please tell me what you think.
